Riding the Rapids

Okay, so maybe we were just canoing down a river, but let me tell you it was quite the obstacle course!
My family and I as well as my brother's in-laws went canoing today down the river near our home. It was a blast! I steered with my 18-year old sister in the front and my 7-year-old sister in the middle. It was the younger one's first time. She was a little scared at first but enjoyed it.
We got stuck on a few logs at times, got bushwhacked, rammed into other canoes, etc. Once my sister had to get out and pull us over a log that blocked the way. We found a great rope swing on our adventure and swang off it into the water. What a blast! I love it when we get to go down the river in canoes. I love being in nature.
One thing I cannot wait for- we thought of it on our way home tonight from town- is when the lightning bugs come out, there is a huge open field near our house, and if you stop there by the road and turn off the car lights you can see thousands of lights flickering in the field from all the lightning bugs. It's the coolest thing ever!
People ask me sometimes what my favorite season is, but I must say there are things in every one of them that I absolutely love! Summer is wonderful too.
Well, I must go to sleep now.
