Consider this...
Do you ever just stop in the busy-ness of life to think upon things, to consider what is going on and why things happen the way they do? Do you ever just stop and stand in awe at our Almighty and Powerful, Loving and Holy Lord?
I find it gets harder and harder. Life seems to have a lot of noise to it that drowns out those moments that one is able to simply think. This is one thing that is so absolutely wonderful about being home again. I LOVE home! I am so grateful that we live in the country, a place where I can get away from pavement and buildings and fast moving motor vehicles (hehe).
I took a walk this evening, an hour or so before sunset. The ground was damp, and everything had that fresh look to it that comes after the rain. I sat on the swing out back. Birds chirped and flew* by and oh to hear them sing! To only hear the sounds of nature and not the chattering of people or cars, and whatnot. It was a nice quiet sort of moment. Then it began to sprinkle. I could barely see it, but I could hear the little droplets patter upon the leaves of the trees. I walked down a little path and the grass stuck to my feet. There was a scent too. It was very light, and somewhat floral and sweet. Not too overpowering. I could not find its source to save my life, but it was lovely.
I don't know why- but it is moments like these that help me to pause and reflect on my dear sweet Lord! I am grateful for these moments. I wonder how much we often miss when we fail to consider the ways of our Lord, when we fail to simply stand in awe of Him. I think I would see my life and this great world of ours in a different light if I allowed moments for that still small voice to be heard (though this often required quietness of heart, not necessarily surroundings).
I was reading this morning in Exodus. Oh I do love the story of Moses.
Exodus 3:2-4
And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed. 3And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt. 4And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.
One thing I thought when I viewed this passage was that God revealed to Moses a small glimpse of His power to test Moses' response before He showed Moses His full purpose for Him.
I know there are times in my life when I come across something and think "I should check that out" but never get around to it. Moses saw the burning bush and took time to check it out; to see or consider the purpose behind why the fire did not consume the bush. It was when God saw that Moses was of the mind to check it out that He revealed to him His purpose. How often do I miss out on a greater understanding of who God is, and greater chance to learn more about Him, or a greater opportunity to serve Him because I do not take the time to stop and consider the things of God.
Just a thought-- and it's late so I will cease my ramblings and rest for the night.
*to say 'flew' sounds so boring, and rather non descriptive of what they were really like. To say fluttered makes one think more of a butterfly than a bird, but at times they had that flappy up-and-down motion as they happily and carelessly made their way along, bouncing through the air. They were little birds, and soaring sounds too majestic, but they would sometimes glide through the air as though there were no weight to them at all. I hate being at a loss for just the right word!

Hi! Thanks for the comment. I'm glad you enjoyed my post. Yes, it seems sometimes words just don't suffice. hehe
Or else my edumucation isn't sufficient enough to provide me with the correct vocabulary. :c)
Love you too!
